Learnings from men

I have learnt lots of things in life, mostly from men I have met
Here are my learnings:

1. Never attach much value to the gentle touch, smell and conversations..they are with you for a lark

2,If they suddenly touch you at the small of your back, dont feel all protected and loved, its a technique they have mastered and learnt that it works on women

2. Dont swoon if they sing something beautiful to you, out of the blue...its not your song to claim..it might be sung to someone else too..its just their whim that they decide to dedicate it to you,at some point in their life

3. If they say the sweetest things to you, or text you something which makes you smile amidst all adversaries, DONT get enchanted and swoon over it.
They are just rehearsing their flirting and woman-wooing skills on you
You might be their Guinea pig!!

4.They just see a fantasy in you, an idea, something to project their hidden insecurities on. Its not you..never you!

I can only hope to un-learn most of it some day....

This projects women as passive and vulnerable. I was under the impression that the contemporary woman is in the process of transcending this patriarchal stereotype; when this process reaches its culmination, men will have to undergo a process of de-learning, not women.

And, by the way, flirting is a fine art, both ways, provided it is accompanied with wit and mutual demarcation of limits; makes both parties feel healthy and rejuvenated.

Syed - I would not say that it makes women passive. But just someone who loves with all she has
It need not be a feminist or non-feminist thing. Its the way we are

Flirting sure is healthy as long as its not hurting anyone. Cos demaractions are an individual's take, and there is no right/wrong in matters of heart

In response to the first part of your above comment, I suggest that you read Anais Nin's novel, "A Spy in the House of Love".

aah... the harsh truth! most women dont realize it.. they do tend to get carried away with these techniques of men.
V learn this the hard way.....
and thats why, it becomes harder to unlearn it!

@Neha - You are right. Its difficult but one must unlearn to learn new and better things

Well! This discussion kind of made me realize how difficult its been for the women...
The trajic part is.... the battered psyche of modern woman may not allow them the liberty to feel the warmth of even genuine empathy or camaraderie of men around them.

@Humayun - We are not battered..we might just be little more careful and intelligent and see through people and men. But when the heart wants..it forgets it all..and dives again in similar things which it wants to protect itself from
