I used to have a music in my heart
A lingering sensation of sweet melodies

I used to have a spring in my feet
Dancing to that lingering music in my heart

This new year I wish, that music comes back to me
In new colours, and new hues
With new possibilities and new avenues

And I can see a glimpse of..
..my lost beauty, in many different ways,
This new year..

Dum Malang Malang..Dhoom

Now that Dhoom 3 is slated to release tomorrow, on its eve I, I wanted to share these bits and pieces of thoughts I have been having, ever since I heard Aamir is playing the new "thief" in this sequel.

I can not help but compare him with Hrithik in last Dhoom (2).
Hrithik, in-spite of his striking good looks, never struck a chord with me, till Dhoom 2 happened..
But when I saw him in this movie, in his glorious avatar, I felt he could generate a spark even in dead water.

He was utterly, purely, unadulterated magnificence personified.
Be it his attitude, or enigma or Greek-god looks, or perfectly sculpted body or the finest and the best..his dance.

Aamir in comparison to all the aspects mentioned above, is a damp squib. He looks like this goody goody guy, or a kid, acting all angry and menacing.
Thats my take, which is surprising, considering the euphoria he created in me when he first came on screen many many years back. You can read more on that here:
http://memoriesofaworldelsewhere.blogspot.in/2010/01/aamir-khan.html

This new kid on the block had managed to block all mys senses back then.
Earlier I would have thought Aamir could do any role and get away with it, but now I am a more objective person and more discerning.

Well here are a few pics of both of them (in the same role in different Dhoom versions) for you to have a dekko, and decide..

Hrithik

Aamir

On another note, I really really wish Aamir does great in this movie, simply cos of the sheer hard work, dedication, heart he puts in every bit of his work. Specially this one, as it has been much more demanding for him to play this, what with a lot of acrobats involved in his dances.

I love the way the song goes Dum Malang Malang...

Why Big Boss?

I dont know why I become so hyper at times seeing some shitty reality show!!
I know I sound loony even to myself, but for some reason I get too passionate and obsessed about some people I hate/like in a show like Big Boss.(similar to Big Brother)

I have noticed this has been happening with me since last 3 seasons, basically last 3 years.
Though in the last Big Boss, I was not crusading for anyone specific but I had a few pet hates. I could not stand hypocrisy of some.

In the last to last season, I really rooted and voted many a times for Mehak and I hated Juhi Parmar for ganging up with the likes of Aakash deep and Pooja Bedi, complete brainless,  loud jerks.
My cousin (who used to watch it with me in that season) and I, would usually stand for the same people and share our exasperation with one and all, even though others could not comprehend our madness for T.V actors.

And this season I , with all my heart hate Armaan and that shitty, joke of a woman Tanisha, who has no self respect. She swoons over a jaded, bad-mouthed, MCP like Armaan as if she is some 18 year old nubile nymphet.

So when today,  nomination for eviction was announced, these 2 along with other 2(Andy and Sangram, who sided with them for votes, in-spite of both of then having major fights with Armaan earlier, as Armaan is one abusive person who does not leave anyone) were fool-proofed, I have been feeling a palpitation for who would be eliminated this week.

I wish not my favorite Gauhar. It would be sad to see the only one who maintained her dignity, to leave the show to a bunch of bullies and doormats.

But I am more bothered about my deep association with these characters, than the characters themselves.
I have no idea why such a reality show should inflict anything on me.

Gradually I have come to understand only one thing for such a grave obsession , that all my anger from people, from my life, from injustice I have seen or borne, from conniving treachery others close to me have been subjected to..all of it comes alive when I see a show like this, with real people and real situations.

I know its stupid and irrational, but when was I rational?

Inane, wierd, random

Do you recall moments of your life which you never thought you would ever think about in anyway? The most passé ones?

I have this gift.
No I should not say gift, a weird way of remembering most inconsequential moments of my life, like a spark in my brain

As if all my memories are wrapped in small bundles of nerves, and anytime, for any reason, some bundle unravels itself, filling me with snapshot of a certain time of my life
But let me clarify, they are the most innocuous moments of my life, yet I cant put a finger on the reason behind it's shooting across my brain

One such thing is a day in my life, when I was in the US first time, 8 years back

I was in a mall with a girlfriend, we ordered some Thai take away and then sat in the balcony of the small restaurant eating and chatting away...

And till date when I want to recreate a romantic moment with someone who had been special, just in my mind..that balcony comes back to me in weird ways..
Me leaning on the balcony with a glass of wine, me sitting on a chair in that same balcony
I mean its something I never thought would stay in my mind in anyways..yet it did..and it does

And I wonder why?
Maybe something gained..or lost...in those moments
Something which can not be repeatable..unique..random

Just like Love..the abandon and the gross innocence

You go on gaining age, wisdom, wealth, health in your life..but love does not come easy..
That feeling..that youthful oblivion..never again
That feeling... that someone sees something in you, bright and shiny..unique, un-repeatable

I want to be un-stitched, broken, pained
Wish someone could open me up, in the most painful way
And my beauty would come out again
And I would love again

Living in London

I have no clue why people in India ever decide to leave and go to a western country to spend a large portion of their lives.
I mean after staying in US for a year, and right now 2 months in London, my conviction that India is the place or me, is getting cemented.
There are way too many things to consider here. Let me begin with the amount of work one has to do, with domestic help being as costly as half your salary maybe

Every time I get up to do something, ,I need to think on the lines of "how to minimize work, in washing utensils".
Points to consider are:
 -Reuse the spoons
-Just rinse and use the same pan twice for making tea
- every time you finish something, immediately keep it in dishwasher so that there is not a load of stuff left at the end of the day...and all such stunts

and each time I go back to my life in India...the grandeur with which I used to throw every utensil I used back home in India..without a care...that is so much much missed

Then lets come to the medical stuff, I had to get a few tests done, and for that you need to be enrolled in a surgery, which takes a couple of days. I am not sure how someone who comes here fresh manages it, I had a spouse living here for 10+ years, so I could manage faster. Cos if you are not enrolled, private tests cost you a fortune, on the lines o 150 pounds which translates to 15,000 rs. for tests which would hardly take 1000-2000 rs in India.
Then comes getting an appointment, even a bloody blood test which only takes a couple of seconds, takes you a week to get reserved. One of the test is available only after a month..holy f*** shit!
There are some tests which had to be timed in a certain way, which is unpredictable, and if you dont get it right then you may as well wait for a month for the next opportune moment, since the booking always makes it a week to come by..HUH!
And the reports also take a week to come, and they dont even give you the report, just let you know if its good or bad!!

3rd comes the conveyance bit. Someone like me, who does not earn billions, could afford an auto which is so easily available and I can get one as soon as I get down my flat. Never knew something like that could be a luxury in foreign cities. So if you dont drive, your life can be quite hellish and dependent, in this unknown country. The trains and buses and changes can leave you exhausted, unless you are in the heart of the city, which is not affordable by all.

For someone like me, this life seems a struggle!!

And I wish to be back, back for good, to my old India. The haggard, poor, much looked down upon India, which has always given me the wings to fly, and every where else I felt tied.

Amma...

..means Mother

Mother, is not a word, its a kingdom
Ruled by a woman, who becomes God when she becomes a mother, whose territory no man can reach, not even a father

Her smell, is the smell of everything safe and comforting, even when you have grown old
Its only her who can bring back all the memories of your childhood, things you never knew you did, are etched in only her memory
A child unknowingly is always turning to his/her mother...in ways s/he does not know..in ages when they dont even know that they seek their mother everywhere they go..those who have had the privilege of having a mother for most part of their lives..and have been loved by her in every new phase of their life they entered

My grand mother(Ma's Ma) died last month, 19th of September, and I cant believe its already a month

I was preparing to fly away to London the next day and got to know the news early morning..I still recall my mother's voice, who had flown down to be with Amma(As she had been sick for a while and for a week her condition was alarming) "चली गयी अम्मा .." (Amma is gone), and a for a moment I cried like a baby...not for my ties with her, but for all the ties which binds me to her in ways which are difficult to explain.

I was never her favorite grand daughter, from the beginning. I was this spoilt girl, who dint behave like a girl, who would raise her voice and argue over things with her. But with time, we both(I believe) started respecting and admiring each other. Though both of us being little stubborn, would end up not talking to each other for long duration of time.

I postponed my London plans, and since her rites were to be done the next day morning, I just had 40 minutes in hand to book a ticket and get on the flight. I was not sure I would get it, but something in me told me I had to try, to at least make it right this one last time, with her.It would have been a regret of a lifetime, if I could not manage that. But eventually with a bit of struggle and pleading with flight people, as I was little late, I managed to get the flight.

She was a poetess, a writer who wrote of her own life and people around her in such a poetic way, which made her life always look larger than life. She also published an assortment of her poems called "नदी पुकारे " (The river calls). Each of her grand parent, who have had little interest in reading and writing can vouch that their first love for writing has come from her.
I still recall that as a kid, in-spite of me not being in her good books, she would never hesitate in appreciating what I wrote, or anything intelligent I said or did. She was unbiased that ways.
I started feeling very proud of her gradually, when by and by I realised that for a person her age, and her era, getting a bachelor's degree and teaching in a college was such a big thing, yet she did it.

Married at an age of 13 years, when she still played with dolls, and going on to finish her studies and then become a lecturer was an achievement for which I guess her husband and my late grandfather should also be commended

She was a mother-in-law at the age of 39 and a grand mother at 41 and then a widow at 47. She lived next 35 years of her life moving round to all her children houses, sometimes feeling loved but many a times she felt like a burden,neglected....cos in our society a woman without a man is made to feel like that. And she being someone who held herself in a very high esteem, would feel that more often than others.

When she felt most dejected, she would sometimes quote this couplet from Bahadur shah zafar "ना  किसी की आँख का नूर हूँ, ना किसी के दिल का करार हूँ " (I am not the light of anyone;s eye, nor solace  for any heart)

For her final journey all her children (my mom, 3 of my aunts and their husbands, her son and his wife) were there, along with some of us grandchildren.

We all sat around her body, the whole night, one last time...talking about her, her humorous nature, her distaste for anything below her level of decency, her desire to be always around people, her idiosyncrasies and her undaunted love. There were times when all of us broke into peals of laughter talking about her, and then the very next moment everyone would go teary eyed.

It felt like we were circling around a huge mammoth mass of sadness, scared to poke it, gently touching it with memories, to sooth our hearts and stopping it from tearing us apart

When her body was taken away, my mom and all my aunts held each other and cried like a baby...and as we grandchildren stood aside and watched them, I thought that losing a mother is a grief only her children would ever know. A space noone can enter, the sadness noone else can fathom. only the ones who are her kids, her babies

She was a woman, quirky, whimsical, stubborn, talented, loving, possessive, disciplined, adorable...sometimes disliked, sometimes looked up-to, sometimes she made some jealous...and much much loved..Amma

I still recall the way she would sometimes ask me, when we met after long
"कुछ कह सु ..." (Share something Su..)
Till we meet again..and share our anecdotes, our loves, our chitchat..once again..like million years before

Its only words..

"Have a a good life, and get what you wish", someone says this when they are about to disappear from your life

"Take care", someone utters this as habit, while leaving you all alone

I hate such ending lines, said so often by people who actually leave you alone
Who are never there with you in your worst moments, but say these "feel good" sentences..which actually makes them feel alright with themselves for the moment

I know its a formality many a times, but sometimes you really want the person who is saying it, to stay back and take care of it all

If I have to take care of myself, you dont need to tell me to do so, I would do it anyways, while knowing I am alone in this
But if you do care, stay back and take care of me
Dont ever ask me to do it all by myself...your asking me does not help me one bit

I do feel & sound like a fanatic sometimes, when it comes to relationships
I make every word count, and I make every single moment etched in my brain, to MEAN something
Meaningless has no space in my arena

I wish I was one of them to say those things, while I meant nothing close to it
I never can, all I have to give someone I leave is emptiness, in words and in feelings
I can never conjure enough great sounding words, to salvage my leaving and going away from someone's life

I am really stuck tonight, to follow the words or to follow the heart
Should my heart swoon at someone saying the right words, of "love", "commitment" et al
Or should my heart listen to the unsaid, and believe its own beats

Cos after all "words are all you have to take my heart away"

Its strange how the words betray you...like they do...with me
I begin to write something and my words fly away...I totally completely forget what is it that I began with

Tonight shall I believe the superficial and esconce myself in the grandeur of the said
Or feel the unsaid from someone, who never had enough words to tell me anything

Love has roots in places you never knew existed in your heart

Can you be you?

I don't claim to be blemishless
But I can only claim...
That I would give you my darkness, for the darkest in me
The pure dirt, for the dirtiest in me
Never the impure dust

But if you give me white lies, for the black in you
I would smudge my dark, and my dark would rot in me
Into a rotten quagmire, which would make me, unrecognisable to you
And bring this US down

Cos its only the dark shared, in its truest form, in us
Which can ever bring us to light...!

A single lie destroys a whole reputation of integrity

I don't do well with lies. How small or big they are
And also moulding a truth, blatantly staring at your face, into small piles of lies so that the whole big pile is a big lie, yet the person doing it considers everything as SMALL

whats the problem with some people to not state the obvious, and degenrate into lies, when it is so much easier and better to just blurt the truth and get done with it?

Honesty can be so beautiful.
Some people just shine, and we know its the blatant honesty in them which gives them an aura

you dont need to be the best..just be honest...to be a greater person than who you are right now..even if the honesty affects you badly

the pathetic attempts to hide the obvious, the pain to stand by a lie(which would not even matter in the long run of life) ,gives a certain ugliness to people, beyond their imagination

Some people lie for nothing, like these:

“I'm the most terrific liar you ever saw in your life. It's awful. If I'm on my way to the store to buy a magazine, even, and somebody asks me where I'm going, I'm liable to say I'm going to the opera. It's terrible.”

" A liar knows that he is a liar, but one who speaks mere portions of truth in order to deceive is a craftsman of destruction."

"I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you" - Nietzsche

"It is better to offer no excuse than a bad one" - George Washington

The moment you drop your guards, the moment your face falls, and then shines with the truth,
there is a bit of me that becomes yours, and there is a bit of you that becomes mine

In that moment of truth, we own each other..thats the only way to own and be owned
Every lie is a separation, a killing of something which could have been

"I step into the harsh light of the truth,  because when you stand in that light
You make self right, you find forgiveness
you find happiness, you find love"~ One Tree Hill

His antics and my heart

He comes near me and sits quietly, tired from playing in the playgroud
Very unlikely for him to be so low, given his high energy levels, at all times

I tell him I need to go, for some work
And he, inspite of his low energy, squeaks "नहीं, तुम मत जाओ " (No, you don't go)

My love for him finds its roots, and I stay back for a few minutes, all the while trying to distract him with something
"I will get you more mentos (his favorite toffee)"
And for once he is not excited, his face shows his disinterest and he does not smile

"Show me your drawings, what did you draw today"
His governess shows me, while he unwillingly and half heartedly participates
And the very next moment he is back to "Don't go please"

Sometimes your heart just fills with love, and saddens at the same time.
With all the premonitions...
The future of him growing up and growing apart,
Me going out of his life..
All that in just that moment of sweetness, when he so wants me around him

I try again to take his mind off my going away, while I attempt tp quietly slip out

"Look at this song on TV, its so nice..your favorite"
"When this song finishes, then you can go"..he tries to bargain, and looks up at me..to delay my going

And I love him a little more..if thats possible!

I tell him "I am just going to Sony world(a place near his house) and come back soon"
And his face lightens up

He goes to the couch and lies down face flat
I ask him "whats wrong?"
He says "निन्नी आ रही है "(I am sleepy)..and he really looks so tired and sleepy

I ask him to give me a hug,he opens his arms and as I hug him he says softly
"You are goign to Sony world na? Go to and come back soon!"

I just wish he forgets that I promised to come back, and is cheerful once he wakes up..which am sure he would be

My guilt of lying to him, weighs me down...

Oh the million ways this heart can break!

Empty heart

Sometimes the heart is completely empty

You try to fill it, with all the notions of happiness

With things like : Count your blessings, reckon your achievements

But the walls of your heart reject each and all of those ideas, like mismatched blood

Or is it that some people are just made like that? Their DNA rejects drips of sanity and happiness?
They can only filter out grief, absurditiies of heart, malfunctioning of brain

A forlorn, miserable identity carved into their system, unknown to them

I tried making happiness complete me
But what made me whole, was the emptiness of it all

Love it

He reminds me of tea and coffee
of sunshine falling on hills before sunset

the ceramics cups and galsses in my kitchen..adding colour to the life around me
and of the inebriated state of marijuana

Yes he is is like that......

Or is it I who has made him like one??

with my forever state of marijuana inebiration
with myself?

whatever it is..its nice to be in it
either him or me..making us larger than what we are

Love it, cos I done have much to love anywhere else!

Feminist?

I was filling up some applications for some official stuff and there was a column which said

Father's name :-
Husband's name (if applicable) ;-

I , as per habit, cut off the husband part and wrote my father's name and carried on with other sections of the form.
In a few seconds it struck me that I do have a husband now and realised I might have to re-do this page and got a little miffed about the re-work.

And in that moment I realised whats this whole thing about a woman having to write father's or husband's name? What does it warranty?

So a mother or a wife has no bearing in anything official? Why doesn't a form ever ask for their names? They do not have an identity or presence strong enough in your lives to be required on a form?

Sometimes I wonder why do I hold on to things like this? Why cant I just accept that it is after all a man's world and do whats required without gumption?

Well, if I could do that..it would not be me

My other sister's are not like me, and they also tell me that there are things I should let go, as a woman.

Why do I strive for an equiality in every sphere? Why does it bother me so much that I can ruin it all, just to retain that image of justice in my brain?

I guess there are parts of you, which are away from genes, from up-bringing, from siblings, from the country you are born in

Does that categorize me as "Feminist"..hell if it does! Aiming for euqlaity has names in this world?
Some people derive pleasure in calling someone a "feminist" as if its some abuse..I pity at the mentality of such people who chose to be less humane and blame it on someone who tries to be more?

Sometimes I feel my sense of equality and freedom and  individuality will be my end!
So be it!!!

Quick Post

I have been away for more than a month, ,with lots of thoughts to write about..but not much of time or inclination.
So all that is lying in my draft, or my phone's notes.

But thats cos I have been busy with preparing for something pretty extensively.
And I need best wishes from all on that front.

I will let you know what it is and how it goes, when that happens.

I just had to write this post, cos I cant let my blog abandoned for long.

Those beautiful ones

Those big cities with eye blinding lights seduce me in a way I cant describe

Whenever I croos continents, I cant take my eyes off from sights of citis like this, in the night

"We are crossing Geneva", the announcement is made in the aircraft and like a sucker for beauty I hang onto my window, my co passenger eyeing me if s/he mistook me for an adult

I remember as a child, I would also look out for beauty...
-Of face, of body, of scenery, of words and of pure feelings

Beauty never threatened me, it just heightened my sense of everything within me, what I sought in this world...

I dont know why sometimes I stare in the horizon in twilight..when the sun has gone down and the moom has not come up as yet..a time of the day when all that is alive is part of me
Something scathing, unsatisfied..burning in that moment..the beauty of which bewitches me..my thirst for my life resurrects..and I wish to meet that person who holds the key to my being..in the meeting of dawn and dusk

Jobless in Bangalore

I sit on the couch for hours watching back to back recorded episodes of "Grey'a anatomy" (the earlier ones on star plus and later ones on Zee Cafe), One tree hill, mad men..and anything which catches my fancy while flipping channels

I start feeling as if I was born and raised on this couch

So how does it feel being so free and having time to yourself to pursue whatever you want, must be really great!
NO it sucks!

There were so many interests I pursued earlier, while I was working and they seemed interesting to me
Now even dance does not excite me...cos everything looks like a compensation for something major I am missing in life
My job..I dont recall a day of my life where I ever thought I would not be working

Even the blog was such a respite earlier..and now it seems like a task!

Some women might be OK not working after marriage, but I was never going to be that woman, thats what I had sworn to myself

And look where life gets you sometimes...amongst the 3 of we sisters, I am the only one not earning right now

The body loses its energy if it does not do what its always meant to...then no substitute is enough.. reading..dancing..fashion...dining out...nothing helps!

So every day I go through such weird thoughts, sitting alone on the couch, willingness to move having left me

Then I pick up broken pieces of my heart and start all over with.....hmmm Grey's anatomy... err One tree hill..

FB or not?

I see people complaining and cribbing so much about the social networking sites like orkut, twitter and majorly majorly FB!

I fail to understand the dimwits who do it!

Who the fuck made FB? We..dint we? normal people like us
And then we think we are important enought to condemn it?

What does FB do? It JUST only JUST gives us a platform to exercise the networking we might want to

Does it force us into anthing? NO! If you dont wish to be friends with someone..you have the freedom not to be.If someoen bores you with his/her updates..just choose not to see that person's updates

Its all and all about you..its a choice you made..like everything else in life

I guess its you who is picks up things for herself/himself...s/he is basically sick of her/his self more than the site...cos that will make that site all the more important to you!

Some people are always whining on FB..of lost love..of how everyone else is bullshit
Some people only talk of sports
Some like to share trivia..cos their lives dont have much to offer to the world

So what?
Just let them be..you be yourself and choose what you want to see..if you can not..that describes you

So as it has always been...life is all about what you choose!

Some people feel important only if they are making someone's life hell

Thats how some people get a kick in their otherwise mundane life.

There is this person in my office, I can not disclose the whole identity of that person since he has found my blog too. But lets just say, he is someone whose opinion and whims can affect me.

And it did finally.

He was tad over-friendly initially, which I first thought as a trait in some people, and ignored.
Then he started calling me for some mentoring sessions , and we would have these 2 hours session, where 1.45 hours would be all inane stuff. As to how his married life sucks, how his extra curricular activities make him different from the rest, how he has brought up his kids marvelously, how he is such an outdoor person but wife is an indoor person and they always have conflict because of that, and how his neighbor is such a competition for him since he cares so much for his own wife that there is always the comparison. And how in the end he and his wife "kiss and make up". Those are his exact words, which made me uncomfortable too.

But I refused to believe that all this saga is cos I am a woman and he wants to spend some time with me.
I even fought with my then fiance, for insinuating any such thing.

Then he started messaging me on office IM, which grew creepy with time.

Well, he had me googled, and unfortunately google shows a lot of information about me.

So he first IMs me about my grand father (which one of my online profile states in full detail), feigns the fact that he knows he is my grand father, asks me if I could get books by him if I go to my home town. Also mentions he is such a big fan of my grand father (well he never mentioned that he knew he is my grand father)

At this very moment I knew he has his data on me.
Then came the story about my secret talent as a dancer, that he has his sources and he knows that about me.
What was he thinking..I am a  dud?

But since the hierarchy is such, I played along and feigned surprise.
And finally he called me to a room and told me that he knows I have a gift of writing. It was getting nauseating for me and I wanted to punch his face, but kept smiling and tolerating.

What I dint anticipate was that announcement of my marriage would change things drastically.

The day I announced, his whole persona took a 180 degree shift.
He refused my leaves, asked me to work till a day before marriage. Which obviously I could not.

When I came back from wedding, he did not bother to even congratulate me. Just called me for a meeting and told me that I would have to go on "Loss of Pay" for all the days I did not come to work, while I was away for my oen wedding.

And if you know me, you know that my temper and intolerance for injustice comes in my way always. So did it this time. I had a massive show down with him, in front of another colleague (who was clueless as to why all the bickering) and I walked out of the meeting

I was aghast at how a married man(15 years of marriage) could hope to have anything with me. What did he think? That I have avoided marriage for so log, to have an extra marital affair with a person whose face resembles a buffalo? What was his game? He manages to be married with a sane woman who is taking care of his house, he should thank his stars for that. Not raise his bars any further.

Finally I decided its in my best interest to resign, since anyways I would be moving out of this city soon.
And now I am jobless in 13 years, not knowing what to do with all the time I have in hand.
Little depressed, little out of sorts.

My blog my solace.

But I am sure, I will finally find my groove

We will always be kids

We are all fools...always a kid..however grown ups we might want us to be

We all want things for ourseleves, we all have our insecuritirs to feed, our desires to furnish
Nothing matured about it

I am saying this, cos if this recent incident which happened with me
It involves me and my 3 year old nephew Shrehaan, about whom I write all the time here , here and here
and lastly here

Just the other day he was here with his mother(my younger sister) and as ususal my sister wanted some of my things(yeah she is always asking for my dress, saree, jewllery..its her childhood issue and fascination for  my elder sister's and my things)

And I was being a little childish about it this time and said I dint want her to take anything from my stuff..yet I knew I will be giving it off

She finally chose  a neck piece & an earring
Just to play along with and see whose side my nephew was..I acted up and cried "No. no you can not take it"
She snatched it from me, and I tried taking it back and cried out and seeked my nephew's support and looked at him
He looked at both of us and said "मम्मा  को दे दो !"(Give it to my mom)

And for that brief moment, I felt deeply betrayed. I felt the like an outsider and inspite of knowing that he is just a 3 year old kid and that he lives with his mother and meets me only once in a week, where his loyalities would lie, I still felt a little jealous and betrayed

As much as I wanted to kiss his bird-like  mouth, I wanted to thrash the daylight out of him too

But when he is about to go and looks at me with his soulful forlorn eyes and holds my hand "तुम भी चलो" (You also come along), everything melts and go down holding his hand..but that small amount of feeling of betrayal never goes

It never will

Some of them have it easy, they can treat you any which way, still you would eat out of their hands when they want you too...

There are some people who can be the worst & the best with you...Yet you take in the worst, cos their best is so beautiful, innocent and honest

Rustic me

Urbane is not for me, its the rustic which always excites and unstiches me

I am trying to figure out that part in me which relents to something like that..

You appear as some one sauve and sophisticated with the right most expression and gravest smile on your face, but when you break into a punjabi gaali under your breath, thats when you make me smile

You are the graciosu lady who loves to be the perfect bahu, wife, giver for the world
But when you give in to hysterical laughter is when you make me fall in love with you

I guess we strive to find a part of us in any and everyone we meet..
that ME which resonated with something un-accountable in me

And when we see it somewhere..we run after that

Be it a song, a poem, a person...a moment..a love..a hatred..a madness..a sadness
Something which keeps reminding us of what we are...and keeps us alive

How can we ever get past us...and this "I" we so nicely concocted, and coveted

And so this song is also about me..

It does not belong to me in the first few lines
But when it breaks into tabla at 1.12 seconds..its all mine to claim..to love.to hate..to reminisce..to love..to cry..to belong..to disown...to just be ME

Raatein jaagengen raaton mein....Teri bemaani baaton mein..

Ye dil hai

I envy people who can follow their heart.

They are the women who can do field work, men who would take up dance for a career,

Here I am, ensconsed in my corporate world, doing the stuff I have been doing for years

The only adventure in my kitty could be the decision to go to US a few years ago, just on a whim, just cos I wanted to run away from something
Then to stay there against all odds, the only girl in the entire project, with noone to turn to

But then, all that cos I was pushed to a corner

Aah..why am I talking about all that, when I should be apolgising(mostly to myself) for absconding my blog for a month

My brain must have stopped working, does marriage do that you?

From Eat Pray Love..To..Committed

He said - "You smell of champagne"

She said - "You smell of my dreams"

This life and its mysteries, the calculations and mis-calculations, the compromises and disillusions, this fight with yourself...ready to know if all of it is worth it

Rest when I regain myself
