Dum Malang Malang..Dhoom

Now that Dhoom 3 is slated to release tomorrow, on its eve I, I wanted to share these bits and pieces of thoughts I have been having, ever since I heard Aamir is playing the new "thief" in this sequel.

I can not help but compare him with Hrithik in last Dhoom (2).
Hrithik, in-spite of his striking good looks, never struck a chord with me, till Dhoom 2 happened..
But when I saw him in this movie, in his glorious avatar, I felt he could generate a spark even in dead water.

He was utterly, purely, unadulterated magnificence personified.
Be it his attitude, or enigma or Greek-god looks, or perfectly sculpted body or the finest and the best..his dance.

Aamir in comparison to all the aspects mentioned above, is a damp squib. He looks like this goody goody guy, or a kid, acting all angry and menacing.
Thats my take, which is surprising, considering the euphoria he created in me when he first came on screen many many years back. You can read more on that here:
http://memoriesofaworldelsewhere.blogspot.in/2010/01/aamir-khan.html

This new kid on the block had managed to block all mys senses back then.
Earlier I would have thought Aamir could do any role and get away with it, but now I am a more objective person and more discerning.

Well here are a few pics of both of them (in the same role in different Dhoom versions) for you to have a dekko, and decide..

Hrithik

Aamir

On another note, I really really wish Aamir does great in this movie, simply cos of the sheer hard work, dedication, heart he puts in every bit of his work. Specially this one, as it has been much more demanding for him to play this, what with a lot of acrobats involved in his dances.

I love the way the song goes Dum Malang Malang...

If I were to tell you

Some of the scenes from some of the movies which made me want a little, cry a little, and hope a little

28 Days
"You have this way..this amazing gravitational force..this mom thing..even when she was a mess the world noticed her..you have that"           "Even a pain in the ass needs someone to take care of them..I dint do that..I should have walked you home"
"Sometimes I would be with my friends and then see you walking a few blocks ahead..all alone..you were so lilttle"
"I am sorry I make it impossible for you to love me!"
"No..You make it impossible for me not to love you!"

-Somewhere these lines between 2 sisters struck close to heart.I could relate myself with this wayward girl(not the drug addict and rehab part though)

Dil to paagal hai
For a long time I sported this silver bangle with small ghungoorus around it, in the hope that someone makes it his favorite.
And then the "aur paas" part is so sensuous.
But more than that I found this conversation more romantic than any romantic dialogue I have heard.
        Arey woh meri favourite thi
                Meri bhi

Band baaja baraat
This scene is a favorite, but not for the obvious reasons one might think. Some scenes just touch your sensibilites.

There are so many more scenes I would have liked to put up here, but could get my hands on only these..maybe later.

I don't cry in movies these days
Even earlier, it used to be very rare. I can actually count on fingers and the scenes from movies where I had been moved to tears

But these days it just does not happen. I sit with a stoic face when others reach for their handkerchief. I feel as if I am abnormal and can never feel one with the crowd around

But today it happend..I found a drop of tear very unconsciously rolling down my eyes while watching a specific scene from this move..ok dont laugh at me.."Band baaja baraat"

Well, I liked this movie cos I think Anushka Sharma is pretty good..she is one of those very few actresses (in recent times) who manage to carry herself really well

And this scene was so innocuous that I still wonder what made me shed a tear

This scene is the one, after they have made love and she thinks she is kind of in love with the guy but she realises that the guy does not feel the same way about the whole thing and he is a bit guilt-laden.
The way she realises this is also very subtle and real.

But in this particular scene, she is trying to act causal and joke about this whole thing, so that he does not get wrong ideas and is as easy with her as he was before this incident

She is being her usual self but her face seemed so vulnerable, how starkly the love and hurt shows on her face, how she tries to camouflage it with nonchalance..
She braves the tussle in her own heart, while the guy takes it for real and brushes it aside happily and is guilt-free

All this was very sad and for that one moment I felt one with her..for some strange reason!

Worst of the Khan lot!

Off late I have grown this immense dislike for Salman Khan.

To describe in nutshell, he is a woman-beater, revered by many
He is a drunk driver killing people, still moving Scot-free

And now he is trying so hard to clear his image
Just recently I saw him posing for some charity function

God, these Page-3 people and their lives!!
But for God's sake, why are we ordinary mortals tortured by such exhibitions?

I mean, do you think we are fools to forget all the past deeds?

From Sangeeta Bijlani, to Somi Ali, to Aishwarya Rai..he has beaten up all his ladies
He has killed six sleeping poor people on footpath, by his drunken driving

He drips of arrogance and bad temper, whenever I see him on TV, in some reality show or a mere bollywood news

And then this jerk of a human being, is shown helping poor, working for kids?

To top it all, he isnt worth anything, even as an actor..

Guess he scores just on looks, even that he has lost most of it over time, compared to his contemporaries like Aamir and Shahrukh

I am ashamed to think of my mini-obsession with Maine pyaar kiya and the man, when I was a stupid teenager!

Aamir Khan!

He was kind of my first love..when I was 14 I guess..well I had few crushes before that..but he was the big one!
QSQT was released and all my dreams of a perfect man were given new meanings with this new chocolate guy..Aamir Khan
He seemed so sincere..and hot and perfect!
He was someone, anyone could fall in love with!
And so did I....

I was so totally besotted by him..so much so that I would save all my pocket money to buy any film magazine which had the smallest possible article on him

There was a book shop called "Books En Amee" in Patna, which I used to cross daily while going to school..and drop in every day to see if any new magazine had any picture of him on any of its pages..and if it had..I calculated the amount to save to buy that magazine!
This was my level of madness for him...

And I was sure..one day am gonna meet him..he will fall in love with me as much..and we will get married..there was no other way about it!

Then came out the news that this guy was secretly married to someone called Reena Dutta..a case of inter-religion marriage which involved elopement..
And I was devastated..my dreams crashed..all at 14!!

I dint know what to do..who to ask the truth behind this rumour..and if he would consider remarriage with me! Plus he was some 9-10 years elder to me...

My younger sis, Belna, was my confidant and ..sort of..my tail(she will hit me if she reads this) and she loved what I loved

We both had memorized all dialogues from QSQT and would see this movie umpteen times and giggle at it every single time
So, she was the 1st person I spoke about my broken heart and failed marriage dreams...
And we both came up with a plan like this :-
We will write a letter to him asking the truth about his marriage..and assure him that we are not journalists so that he feels free in telling us the truth...

And I got his address from somewhere and began my letter

Then came along the spoil-sport..my elder sis..who was forever the more matured sorts..
She went straight and told our father that we were writing a letter to Aamir khaan and my father came and tore it in pieces...and said "Go and concentrate on your studies..such nonsense can happen later"

I was heart broken...dishevelled..and cried my eyes out...I was in love!

Now when I think back..all I can do is scron..cos I dont like Aamin anymore..not even one bit
The fact that he divorced his wife of 18 years (with 2 kids) to marry someone so ugly as Kiran rao..was beyond me
I despised him then..and more so,with each of his movies
He has becomes so predictable and annoying with his acting and expressions!

I saw 3 idiots..though I liked the movie...Aamir was quite irritating!
I know its cool for guys to cry..but cry all the time for no reason?? how cool is that?
Your friends get a job and you start crying?
This crying business has to stop or else he can go out of business

This movie had so many flaws but at the end of it..you come out happy..cos it has a feel-good factor..

But Aamir..you disappointed me like nobody's business :(
