Feminist?

I was filling up some applications for some official stuff and there was a column which said

Father's name :-
Husband's name (if applicable) ;-

I , as per habit, cut off the husband part and wrote my father's name and carried on with other sections of the form.
In a few seconds it struck me that I do have a husband now and realised I might have to re-do this page and got a little miffed about the re-work.

And in that moment I realised whats this whole thing about a woman having to write father's or husband's name? What does it warranty?

So a mother or a wife has no bearing in anything official? Why doesn't a form ever ask for their names? They do not have an identity or presence strong enough in your lives to be required on a form?

Sometimes I wonder why do I hold on to things like this? Why cant I just accept that it is after all a man's world and do whats required without gumption?

Well, if I could do that..it would not be me

My other sister's are not like me, and they also tell me that there are things I should let go, as a woman.

Why do I strive for an equiality in every sphere? Why does it bother me so much that I can ruin it all, just to retain that image of justice in my brain?

I guess there are parts of you, which are away from genes, from up-bringing, from siblings, from the country you are born in

Does that categorize me as "Feminist"..hell if it does! Aiming for euqlaity has names in this world?
Some people derive pleasure in calling someone a "feminist" as if its some abuse..I pity at the mentality of such people who chose to be less humane and blame it on someone who tries to be more?

Sometimes I feel my sense of equality and freedom and  individuality will be my end!
So be it!!!

You have a right to remain. Period. No negotiation.

That the world is set in its tune is understandable; but beyond the paper, should it demand you to be not you. Then damn it.

Walk on.

Feminist or not, certain things are just downright senseless to be able to put up. The word 'feminist' is just a label and I tend to think that many women are feminists at some point or the other in their lives. There are some men too who like calling themselves that.

Joy always,
Susan

accumulateme - I know..and I have been doing that

Susan - Thanks, but sometimes it can cause mental harassment when you know you are so damn right and the other is so damn wrong

Raaji - I agree, just that some people derive pleasure in uttering that..but we got to tell them we are proud to be a feminist

I don't understand all this hue and cry about who's what. Since we are born in this society and not in some jungle, we'll all have to bear with what comes along, don't you think so? And besides, all need love. Men need women for that and vice versa. So why not being a bit tender and loving toward each other?

Sayantan - Thats the expectation of all. Be loving and tender. And being loving and tender as many facets to it, to each his own. And love has varying meaning and standards for individuals. Some love their space, some love submerging themselves in another. Noone is here to judge. Loving the person as is is all that one wants

Yaay for being a feminist. All my friends make fun of me. I don't care...

What's wrong with wanting equality and fairness, anyway?

Shruti - Really! I mean what exactly does it mean..I got no clue..and whats there to make fun for? This is a society which cries for help

That's because women have accepted that they need a man's identity to be recognized and to be established in this world. Without that, you are just vulnerable... sad, isn't it.

Ennzee - Women who accepted that, good for them then. But those who dont, how do they handle when they dont wish to feel vulnerable but they should, as they say?
