Relationships are like a chord
A tenacious chord, between two people
One end tied to me and the other to you
Between 2 sisters
Between 2 friends
Between 2 lovers
And even between parents and children
Both sides try to pull it towards themselves
But neither of us can pull it beyond a point, lest it breaks
We need to reach an equilibrium, where both can hold the reins
And the right tenacity is maintained
You need to realize when the thread is pulled too hard on either side..
-Whether you are pulled too much and leaning into the other person
-Or if you have pulled it too much and the other is leaning into you
Neither is a healthy situation
For you or for the other party
So each has to let loose a little
And hold back a little
To maintain the right tension in the chords
Which makes the correct music
And all that circus is necessary, only if you care for the relationship enough
Else its better broken than saved.

बुद्ध ने इसे ही तो मध्यम मार्ग कहा है, और वीणा के तार वाली मिसाल दी थी.
अच्छे संगीत के लिए तार का तनाव बिलकुल सही होना चाहिए.
Nice Post
Kabir - Wow first comment in hind. Looks like I am on my path to Niravana since I am beginning to think like Sidhdharth :) thanks
Well said!
Thanks Whuaat
this really had an original feel to it, and i liked it a lot.
Thank you Ed!
True; but it's difficult 'to maintain the right tension in the chords' for a long period of time. It requires two people with the same wave length, maturity, commitment accompanied by love; quite a tall order and pretty rare.
And, the ghosts of the past refuse to leave you.
Syed - Yes, but when you realize that 2 people don't gel on all those parameters, then we should retract, else we might fumble and fall in abyss
Its not easy, very difficult if you like the person enough yet have to let go or cut down your sentiments
Oh man!!!!!!
I used the same analogy to explain the same thing to my love two years back when we were just friends.
We humans live hundreds apart and still share exactly the same thoughts, this coincidence will keep me surprised for sometime.
I wanted to write it too at that time, but couldn't, now you have put it way much better than I could have.
Spectator - I feel happy to resonate thoughts of at least a fraction of people in this world!
